Jerome Gomez
Jerome Gomez holds an MFA in Interiors Design from the Miami International University of Art and Design and has been teaching on a tenure track as an Assistant Professor of Interior Design at Converse University since 2020. He continues to work towards his Doctorate in Leadership and Development and dedicates himself to strengthening his application skills as an Interior Designer.
As part of Jerome’s diverse background, he managed a successful independent design firm for over 18 years in Fort Lauderdale, FL, 奥斯丁, TX, and New York, NY. He prepared himself for success by moving up the ladder from CAD Operator to Lighting Designer to Project Manager for well-established Lighting Consultants and Engineering firms in New York City. Jerome worked on various projects during his tenure as an interior and lighting designer, ranging from Hi-end Residential Design to Department Stores and famous Broadway Theaters.

Following his extensive work in Interior Design combined with his overarching awareness in research towards establishing a theory of Interior design, Jerome focuses his attention on the philosophy of raising student understanding of spatial theory as a means to sustain student performance over the life of their careers. Jerome has held various positions as part of his educational career, ranging from Adjunct to Program Coordinator and Program Chair to his current position as a Professor of Interior Design at Converse University. He currently holds the position of IDEC’s South Regional Chair (2022 -2024) and has served in several capacities for the IDEC organization.
Jerome also holds active memberships with IIDA and ASID, and In 2020 Jerome was chosen to serve as a Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) site reviewer for his unique perspective on interior design.
